Suspended NSW State of Origin winger Blake Ferguson has pleaded not guilty to an indecent assault charge.
On the eve of the series decider, Ferguson appeared at Sydney's Waverley Local Court on Tuesday where his lawyer, Adam Houda, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
The 23-year-old Canberra Raiders star, who has been suspended indefinitely by the NRL, is accused of indecently assaulting a woman, also 23, in a Sydney nightclub on June 16.
He was out celebrating former Raiders teammate Josh Dugan's recall to the NSW side for game two of Origin when the alleged incident occurred.
Last month, Canberra made Ferguson unavailable for NRL selection for at least four weeks while he undertook an extensive alcohol management program
storage unit.
The NRL had already suspended Ferguson's registration indefinitely, citing repeated behavioural issues involving the abuse of alcohol.
Both the NRL and Raiders will await the outcome of the court case before making a final determination on Ferguson over that issue.
Flanked by supporters including former NRL star Anthony Mundine, Ferguson declined to comment outside court.
The matter has been adjourned until September 3
